Stephen Shore

In this picture of an alleyway in Presidio, Texas taken by Stephen Shore, I notice a dog and a man looking at each other on the right side in the photo. They are standing in front of a building that is short, they are pastel colored in beige, green, and pink. The buildings have windows, doors or an opening. There is also a truck in the right corner of the picture that may be driving down the street. In the distance, I see another car and large truck driving by at an intersection. Past the intersection, I also see mountains. On both the left and right side of the photo I see trees and powerlines with wires going across the sky. On the left side, I see a fence. On the bottom, I see a dirt road, and, on the top, I see a clear blue sky. I chose this picture because I like color pictures over black and white pictures. Another reason I picked this picture is because the picture is clear to see. It has sharp and defined lines. The picture makes me wonder about the relationship between the man and the dog. I wonder if they know each other or are just meeting for the first time, if they were taking a walk together or separately or if the dog is lost.

Angela Strassheim

This picture of McDonald's that was taken by Angela Strassheim in 2004, I noticed a family of six people praying. One of the girls in the picture is looking up while the rest of the people are bowing their heads. In the background there is either a window or a picture showing an older McDonald’s restaurant. In that picture there is only one arch on the McDonald's logo, and it says fifteen cents for the burgers. Hanging from the ceiling are decorations of Christmas trees. This leads me to believe that the picture was taken during the holiday season. There does not appear to be anyone else in the restaurant. The restaurant appears to be clean. I chose this picture because I love McDonald’s. Another reason I chose this picture is because I found it odd that people were praying outside of their home or place of worship. I wondered why they were praying.

Simphiwe Ndzube

This photograph called Amagents #5 taken by Simphiwe Ndzube in 2022 shows an abstract piece of art. The picture shows a jumpsuit decorated with beads, buttons and zippers. There is symmetry, bright colors and dark colors. There is a hanger and not a head. There is only one hand and not two hands. The other hand is depicted by string. The arms and legs are spreaded from the body. There is a circled necklace over the heart. I chose this picture because it reminded me of another artist, Jane Perkins, who also used recyclable media to create art. I enjoyed Jane Perkins’ work.
